Sailing cruise in Cuba? The largest island in the Caribbean offers a wonderful vacation that allows you to combine the beauty of the landscape, the rich local culture, with the joys of sailing. Our Cuba charters are present at the Marina of Cienfuegos, a city 250 km from the capital Havana, called the Pearl of the South and from here you will sail by boat, which can be rented both in bare-boat formula and with local professional skipper, for the most beautiful destinations on the south coast, including the magnificent Cayos, paradisiacal islands off the Caribbean Sea. But let's go in order: if you choose boat rental in Cuba, you will arrive by plane in Havana, the fascinating, decadent metropolis. The historic center, Unesco heritage, has been completely restored and offers a suggestive dip into Spanish colonial architecture: the squares, palaces, churches and convents, and even the three fortresses are original and perfectly preserved. Then the area of the early 1900s, with the mammoth Capitolio, the Parque Central and the area frequented by Hemingway, especially the Floridita and the Bodeguita del Medio, where you can enjoy excellent Daiquiri and Mojito. The taste of rum, the color of the flowers, the sound of the sauce reign in every street. You can stroll along the very long Malecón, the boulevard open to the winds of the Atlantic coast and flanked by a long line of elegant buildings once, now decrepit and crumbling, almost a trademark of the capital. A short trip will take you to Cienfuegos to set sail by boat, but don't forget to visit the Playa Larga crocodile farm on the way (and if you want, taste a steak of the dangerous reptile ..). Not far away is Trinidad, the most beautiful historic town in Cuba: in the tangle of old cobblestone streets, the historic center is all in colonial style, with colorful houses and decorated verandas. All around music day and night: son, bolero, original salsa, played by passionate bands and danced by everyone without distinction of ability, because the rhythm and atmosphere that surrounds you do the magic of inducing you to move harmoniously. Cienfuegos is a delightful city of around 150,000 inhabitants; its marina hosts some charters that provide sailing boats and catamarans. The place cannot be better: overlooking the south coast, the least exposed to winds and currents, a few hours by boat from the Cayos. For a first short hike, head east to Playa Ancon, a delightful resort with a golden beach lined with palm trees. An oasis of serenity and beauty where you can perhaps stop for the night anchoring in the harbor. Then, with a navigation of just over 50 miles, we reach Cayo Largo, the easternmost island of the Los Canarreos Archipelago. The Cayo Largo marina stands out for being at the forefront of tourism and services to international customers. On the island there are 27 km of dream beaches: the most famous are Playa Sirena and Playa Paraiso. The sand is dazzling white (and always fresh, something more unique than rare in these latitudes), in a splendid chromatic contrast with the turquoise of the sea. You can swim safely, snorkel, meet the giant turtles that lay their eggs in Tortuga Bay. If you don't see them in the sea, there is the possibility of visiting an interesting museum dedicated to precious marine animals. In Cayo Largo for food, drinks and cocktails: the international cuisine of the resorts is a bit standard, but you will find delicious lobsters, cooked in all ways: grilled, spicy stewed, with rum. Here the delicious crustacean is as widespread as chicken .. If you want, you can continue your sailing holiday to the other Cayos of the archipelago: there are three hundred more or less large islands that alternate in the reef, between beaches and palm trees. In a word, a Caribbean paradise. Sailing in Cuba is a splendid alternative to visiting the Caribbean country, contact ItalyCharter for all information!
